About

Brent Jensen is an author, speaker, music correspondent, and host of the podcast series No Sleep ‘til Sudbury with Brent Jensen.

His third book, All My Favourite People Are Broken (Edwards Press, 2016), examines the premise that music can tell us who we are based on the types of music we deeply connected with at various points in our lives. As music fans, we all have that special grouping of songs that have a certain emotional control over us – maybe they make us feel like we can lift a Dodge Dakota over our heads, maybe they bring us to tears.  All My Favourite People Are Broken examines both the how and the why of this idea through the prism of Jensen’s personal experiences. Jensen is also the author of No Sleep ‘til Sudbury: Adventures in 80s Hard Rock and Heavy Metal Deconstruction (Edwards Press, 2012), and Leftover People: A Journey Through Post-Rock & Roll America (Edwards Press, 2014).

Music possesses the power to connect us in deeper, more meaningful ways, and this concept represents the foundation of Jensen’s entire platform. In his speaking engagements, Jensen uses music as a platform upon which to deliver key insights across a wide range of topics – music’s role in personal wellness, how consumer behaviour is impacted by music, building successful brands using music, what we can learn from music in communicating more effectively – all talks developed and delivered by Jensen.

Jensen’s podcast series was designed to serve as an interactive extension of his books; an opportunity for guests of the show to talk about the music that bears a special meaning for them, for whatever reason. Over 260+ episodes, his guests have included Hockey Night In Canada‘s Ron MacLean, Black Crowes drummer Steve Gorman, entrepreneur and former MuchMusic veejay Erica Ehm, guitarist Phil Collen from Def Leppard, The Go-Go’s bassist Kathy Valentine, Canadian broadcasting icon Alan Cross, Twisted Sister guitarist Jay Jay French, singer and television host Tara Slone, and Triumph’s Rik Emmett.

Jensen maintains Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages to network with his friends, readers, and audiences.
